Soul Flower began in 1999 as a boutique specializing in funky clothing, great gifts, jam band goods, tie-dye clothing, and hemp goods. We have gone through a lot of change since then...we no longer have a retail store but do have a mail order catalog and this online shop. You can also occasionally find us vending at music festivals in the midwest.

WHO ARE WE?
We are your buds - Mike, Peggy, Chad, Jenn, Greta, Jill & Joe. Mike came out of the corporate arena to get back to his roots, and now spends his days either working at the warehouse (where Chad, Jenn & co. work to get your orders out in a timely and personal fashion) or working on the catalog. Peggy once worked as a writer and designer for a local software company. Now you will find her developing the Soul-Flower.com online store and working on the newest issue of the catalog. Our Buds work hard to answer your questions, process orders & keep the Soul-Flower vibe flowing to each & every customer. Together, we make a great team and we all have a passion for what we do.

WHY A CATALOG & ONLINE STORE?
Since the average person spends most of their waking hours working, we decided to integrate our work with our lifestyle.

So we are aligning our personal interests and likes with our working lives. It is easy to see that one of our greatest passions is our music and the scene surrounding it. Since we have always looked for alternatives to the national chains and department stores of the world, we have built a creative, independent store where people can buy cool stuff. And our hope is that you find a comfortable, down-to-earth shopping experience online. And if you prefer to shop with a catalog, you can order a free one right here.

We try to give back! Each year, we donate a portion of our profits to organizations that are trying to make this world a better place. In 2007, we sent funds to our local St Paul Second Harvest to provide emergency food assistance food banks nationwide. We continue to support Camp Courageous (located in Iowa) by donating enough funds to send 10+ people to this wonderful camp in 2008. Camp Courageous works with disabled children and adults to build self-esteem through an awesome summer camp experience - please check them out if you get a chance. This year, we chose two local groups in Iowa to receive donations from us. The first is the Greater Des Moines Music Coalition, which promotes independent music & local action. The other is the Campaign for the Bluffs, Hills and Lakes to help keep non-developed, non-farmed land left clean, wild, and untouched. In addition, we support Carbonfund.org, a carbon offset initiative supporting renewable energy and helping to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. We offset Soul-Flower.com's business emissions annually and promote green practices as a company.

Soulflower is located in St Paul, MN (warehouse, fulfillment and operations) and in Des Moines, IA (web design and catalog). Here is a recent article about us.
