I’ve noticed that if someone is buying one kurta they seem to be buying several kurtas. When the weather starts to cool down, I start wanting to wear some favorites: tall boots and long-sleeves. It’s just one of the pleasures of fall for most females! I’m always looking for long-sleeved t-shirts for my wardrobe, and this Soulflower tunic caught my eye.
What I love most about tunics is how versatile they are. You can wear them with jeans as a t-shirt or put in on over your yoga clothes and add boots to go out on the town after class. As the weather gets cold, you can put it on over long johns just for lounging or for going out.
Since this is a Soulflower tunic, it’s made of soft GMO-free, organic cotton and is made to be just as comfortable and simple as it is beautiful. The shape is cut to accentuate the female figure. Soulflower’s graphics always astound me. The designs are beautiful, yet simple, and they reflect nature and have positive messages to inspire those that wear them and those that get to see you wear them. Their designs always have the effect of stopping someone to let you know how cool it is and how good you look. Every piece of clothing represents the art of mindfulness, presence, and thoughtfulness.
I chose this tunic because I love trees! The tree design and the color of the tunic are to remind us of the spirit of the tree. Trees live in harmony with their environment. They live much longer than we do generally, so they have much wisdom to teach us if we learn to slow down and listen. This fall season is the time to get out and listen to the trees!
These photos were taken in Pisgah National Forest in the Laurentian forests that inhabit the tops of these Southern mountains. We’ve lost many of the species that once thrived here due to invasive insects and diseases. Be sure and pay attention to what is native in your area and never plant non-native trees and plants in order to prevent the spread of pests.

A running stream, a beautiful waterfall, a quiet forest, and my Namaste Tank Top; it’s a beautiful day and a perfect recipe for some meditation and yoga. Namaste represents the belief that there is a divine spark within each of us, which is located in the heart chakra. It is expressed through placing the hands together at the heart, closing your eyes, and bowing your head. It can also be done by placing your hands together at your third eye, bowing your head, and bringing your hands down to your heart. This gesture represents the acknowledgment of the soul in one, by the soul in another.
Is it just me or is it totally mukluk time!? My toes are chillay and ready for my favorite hand woven slipper! And, yes, I am in fact wearing my favorite aqua & blue pair at my desk right now. And when I get home, I have a pair of maroon, pink and cream ones waiting for me. The entire Soul Flower team pretty much runs around the office in mukluks throughout fall and winter – we’ve just got that kind of luk! 😉

I am so glad that headbands have become fashionable again since I was already wearing them anyway! Although I am not one to dress according to what is fashionable, I like to be comfortable, and part of being comfortable is knowing that you look good in what you’re wearing. Soulflower has found the perfect balance in comfort, fashion, and style!
Anyway, I was looking through the headbands and thinking that I wanted one, and I came across a review that said she thought the headband she ordered seemed flimsy and to save your money by cutting up an old t-shirt. It made me re-think my order, but I decided I wanted to try one anyway. I am glad I did! I like the idea of cutting up a t-shirt, and I will probably try that; but I am extremely happy with the Soulflower headband, and I’ve been wearing it more than any of my other ones now. I find that it’s not flimsy at all; in fact it’s quite tough! I will definitely be buying the other colors and designs!
In order to check its toughness, I put it through the paces. I took it on a road trip and on a multi-day river trip. I wore it during different activities, and I was frequently stuffing it down in my bag. I found that not only is the headband ultra-tough, but it’s super small and easy to pack!
The other reasons that I love the Soulflower headband are the material, the fit, and the design. The material is their ultra-soft cotton/poly blend that they use in many of the items in their yoga line. The cotton makes it soft and airy and the polyester makes it durable and quick-drying. It’s organic cotton and recycled plastic too! When it’s hot outside, I always want my hair out of my face, but many headbands make me itchy and hotter, so I put them on and take them off all day. Not this one! The material is silky-soft, light and airy, so it feels good to wear in all kinds of weather.
The fit of the headband is perfect. I have a very small head, and it fits me great without falling around; and the material is stretchy, so if you have a bigger head, it will fit you too. You can change up the look to fit your mood by wearing it over your whole head or scrunching it up smaller. It stays on great through all kinds of activity like yoga, hiking, traveling, and just playing around. On our road trip out west, I found it to be a necessary travel item! Since I went many days without a shower, it was great to cover up and control dirty, wind-blown travel hair.
One of the most amazing things about Soulflower is their designs, and they don’t hold back on their headbands! I have many items with the Soulshine graphics on them because it’s one of my favorites! It reminds me to stay positive and to do my best to make others around me feel good too. Thanks Soulflower for always finding creative ways to spread the good vibe!

If you like being comfortable, you will love Soul Flower’s line of pull-over yoga hoodies! I now have two, and I wonder what I used to wear. They are like your favorite t-shirt, but in hoody form! These hoodies are made from a soft blend of organic cotton and recycled plastic polyester. The cotton makes the fabric soft against your skin while the polyester helps it dry quickly and keeps you warm; making these a great choice for spring and fall or after the sun goes down in summer. I wore this in a light rain and it didn’t soak the water in and it dried very quickly.
These hoodies have a loose fit, (I got the small and it fits juuuuust right) so they are great for pulling on over your yoga wear or over your little party dress as the night grows cooler at a festival or show. I actually just wore the Mehndi Hands hoody at a spring festival. It got cooler at night, but not cold, so I wanted something that would keep me just a bit warmer. The extra coverage and the awesome hood were just the ticket! Also, because it’s a Soul Flower item, I could add a layer and still have on something cute and fun!
The Mehndi Hands graphic is absolutely spectacular. It’s a beautiful maroon color against the brown hoody. I have to add that the color of the hoody makes it very convenient for travel and festival wearing because it doesn’t show dirt! Anyway, the graphic is open hands with a heart inside and the heart chakra symbol inside the heart. How awesome is that! It’s located right at the heart chakra too, so it reminds us to act from the heart. Others might be different from us, they might annoy us, but we do our best to love them anyway. Chakras are able to give and receive energy, so also remember to receive the love that is given to you. Soul Flower’s love is given to us through their eco-conscious clothing with conscious designs so that as we wear it, we give our love to the world around us!
I don’t know about the rest of you, but where I live it has been soooo HOT! The only thing you can do in this kind of weather is go to the pool with an umbrella and some sunscreen (spf 100 if you’re as fair skinned as me!)
But the heat brings another problem; clothes! When it’s as hot as it is in the middle of Summer, you have to have something that is made out of thin, cool fabric and is still cute at the same time. Hello, fellow buds! My name is Kirbie and I am lucky enough to say that I am one of Soul Flower’s newest additions to the Karma Krewe! I love Soul Flower because it is a wonderful company with friendly, true blue workers, and you can give outward expressions of inward feelings through clothing that is good to the earth and its people. So far, in my 20 years of life, my inward experiences have been mostly positive. If I have a bad experience, I turn it around and make it a good one because I know that it taught me something that I can apply later on in life. I am a singer/songwriter too, so I can also take those negative (and positive) experiences and turn them into a song. That way, there is always a happy ending to every life lesson!
To me, nothing is more important in life than happiness. This is why I felt right at home when I first started listening to reggae music. The lyrics in reggae music always come back to love and happiness. Most of the lyrics uncover issues that keep us from these things. A lot of songs are about the artist’s true love. Then there are the songs about sitting back, relaxing, and just enjoying life. And who can resist those bouncy off-beat guitar rhythms? Yes indeed, whenever I hear this irresistable music, it’s like I’m in my own little paradise. What other way to express these happy feelings than through my reggae influenced pop music?
When I saw these, I just had to have them. They practically screamed out my name! They are perfect for me. The bright colors are eye-catching, yet down to earth, thanks to the scarce brown color throughout the pants. I was a little worried about them being too hot; after all, it is the middle of May and it isn’t going to get any colder! But they turned out to actually keep my legs cool in the sun! Plus, you can roll them up and button them if you want to wade in the water. They weren’t too short OR too long. They fit around my hips and bottom, which I was suprised about. Great for running and dancing! Just when I thought they couldn’t get any better, I remembered they were fair trade….What are you waiting for?!

Kids are rocking our hippie accessories like nobody’s business! Usually when I see a long scarf or women’s hat I think of it as just that, an accessory for women, but these little buds have proven me wrong. Check out these hippie vibes – they’re so stylin they’ve got me wanting these outfits!
Every summer I have a mission to find that new vacation dress! So, I got online and enjoyed my Soul-Flower search (without the shopping hassle) and found one of the prettiest dresses I’ve seen in a long time, The Indian Summer Maxi Dress. Without a hesitation I thought, yes please! Getting this ASAP!!! When it came in the mail I was dazzled by the color!! The purple freak in me is very happy, and I’m lovin’ on the red and purple – what a fabulous combination!! Funny, I paint using this color combo quite often, but I don’t see it enough in clothing for my fondness! The sweet Mehndi pattern is always marvelous to me as well, just so awesome!
The Indian Summer Maxi Dress has all the elegance for a fancy shmancy party yet the natural, light, everyday look for heading to the market in a beachy town. It’s just the best for summer vacations! So lightweight for packing, and takes up no space in my luggage! The fit is so amazing is on my body. It’s quite form fitting in the shoulder area, but I like this feature a lot because of the nice higher fit around the arm pits and neckline.
The dress also has a nice bit of room in the hip area – very easy to move around, walk and sit in, and gives the body such a nice shape. I am 5’5” and it brushes the tops of my sandals. Perfect in every way, like it’s been tailor made!! How do they do that? Who is it that is doing this? This rich red gem is a garment made in India in the traditional ways families have been block printing cotton by hand for generations. The sewing is done by hand from women who are members of cooperatives. This dress I now wear and love helps these women and their children find their way out of poverty and the company is a member of the Fair Trade Federation! So, every time I put it on I think of whose life these dresses might be changing and wear it with a happy heart!
I was so excited when the “Three Little Birds” hi-lo dress landed on my door step! Soft organic cotton and a loose fit, all while being fashionable and fun! This dress truly does put the fun in functionality. Functionality in a stylish dress is something hard to find. Not only is this dress really adorable, it’s super comfortable as well. It really gives you the freedom to move around and soar up into trees at a moment’s notice.
I love to get in touch with nature, from taking hikes up waterfalls to planting in my garden. And with the comfort of this racerback dress; there is nothing you will feel held back from! It’s perfect for beautifying the front yard with flowers and planting or playing in the dirt all day!
From the sandy white beaches of Hawaii to the tops of the fruit trees, I can’t think of anywhere I wouldn’t wear this Three Little Birds dress. The greatest thing about it truly is its versatility. It slips on easily after a long days swim in the Pacific.
A day at the beach playing with my puppy Luna is a breeze in this dress. Its loose fit allows it to flow in the cool ocean breeze and its racer back style allows your shoulders to still get some sun, while the rest of you stays covered up as you’re chasing after your dog!
Walking the shoreline, swimming in the crystal blue waters, lying in the sun, playing fetch; it’s a day in paradise! An adventurous day like this certainly leaves very little time for planning a wardrobe change before we head out for some fish tacos, good thing I am ready for anything in the only outfit I need!
Last summer I gushed about the Organic Milkshake Maxi Dress and it’s bike-ability. Truth be told – I’m still wearing that dress. But to mix it up, I rock the Saltwater Seas Organic Maxi Dress. I can get from Uptown to the north loop in three shakes of a lambs tail and I’m racing those shirtless mohawk guys on fixed gears. Last weekend I even had one get out of my way. (HA!)

Last night I wore the organic maxi dress to the drive-in. Three movies for $8? Awesome. Mosquitoes? Ew. Luckily my legs were safe and I hosed my arms down with bug dope.

When I’m not mowing down bike boys I’m on set making movies. Last weekend my team participated in the local 48 Hour Film Project. We shot outside on a cloudless Saturday landing us in the direct sun for about 12 hours. I wore Soul Flower’s organic On Horizon Hoody Dress. The light cotton dress breathed with me and air dried quickly.
This is a bag for the mama warrior on the go. You know how “mom” bags look really corny and sedate? I remember browsing diaper bags while I was pregnant and thinking, “No. No. No. None of these will do.” Here’s the thing, you don’t need a “mom” bag to carry all of your mom gear.
The Field of Dreams bag is 10” by 15”, which means it can fit your diapers, your wallet, your phone and keys (there’s a handy inside zippered pocket), a spare onesie, some snacks, and all of those other mysterious things we end up carrying in the bottom of our bags (hey how did this dead beetle and random doll dress get in here?) But when you close up the 100% cotton canvas messenger style flap it all disappears. The straps are made from cotton webbing and the closures are antique brass turnbuckles so this bag is strong and can put up with a lot of abuse, travel, weather, and kid goop.
The best part is, instead of a corny kitten and calico fabric screaming to the world that yes, you are a human napkin and milk wagon, there’s a very cool mandala on an army green background. You can be you. You can be hip and stylish and still carry all of the trappings of parenthood.
The bag name kind of made me giggle. I remember the movie Field of Dreams. And I may have even taken a road trip as a teenager to said field in Iowa just to play a game of catch with my best friend. Those were good times, young and free. But I gotta tell ya, this bag is serving a very different field for me these days. I like to think that the subtle military theme is very appropo for a young parent. Yes, you are in the trenches now. Wear your bag with honor and soldier on. May it serve you well.

I have been thinking a lot lately about my clothes and why I am drawn to wear some things more than others. There are some pieces of clothing in my wardrobe that are old favorites, some may be a hot new trend, or old things that I have repurposed or recycled. On any given day, though, my item of choice is usually a great hoodie.
A versatile sweatshirt is one of my essentials! My hoodies have to be able to handle my busy life as well as make me look and feel good. A great sweatshirt is sometimes like an old friend, always there for you when you need them and they’ve always ‘got your back’! I dont think there is an article of clothing that is more useful than a hoodie, here are a few of the ways I have used a favorite sweatshirt beyond the norm:
This new, wonderful Peacock hoodie from my buds at Soulflower is perfect! It is the most beautiful sky/sea blue color (I am calling it Santorini Sea Blue!) and the slightest bit of a burnout look, like it is already broken in and has been a favirote of yours for a while. The gorgeoulsy deatiled peacock design is lovingly hand drawn and printed on a fantastic blend of organic cotton and recycled soda bottles, right here in the USA! Soda bottles you ask?? Why YES! Oh, Soul Flower, you’ve stolen my heart again! I’m in love with your whole yoga/loungewear line, and this yoga tank is a true beauty! It’s a visually striking top that is comfortable to wear. I’m stoked that we’re having such warm weather in the South right now so that I can wear it as much as possible! It’s another Soul Flower item that can go anywhere too—yoga class, out on the town, or lounging in the yard to let the sun’s rays warm your shoulders.
As you slide the tank on, the first thing you will notice is Soul Flower’s signature soft organic cotton that bathes your skin in luxury. The next thing you will notice is the super comfortable fit. It’s loose in the upper body, which allows room for whatever you have to fill it, and plenty of room for movement. You won’t get uncomfortable underarm binding in this tank!
Another wonderful design feature is the long length, which not only provides good coverage, but it helps the top to stay in place as you move into any position.
The design is gorgeous—a female figure sitting serenely, and she is filled with flowers. The design reminds me of the chakras. The root chakra is her legs and the design climbs up and culminates with her hands above her head in the crown chakra, which, on the shirt is at your heart chakra. This reminds me of our interconnectedness and to act with love toward all beings. Even if you don’t get the whole chakra thing, the design on the shirt reminds you to lift up through your body and be filled with energy. It’s like having a yoga class in the shirt! This is one of the things that I respect about Soul Flower—so much thought goes into all of their designs that they seem to resonate somewhere deep in the sub-conscious.
Adding to the beauty is the dark blue color of the tank. The color blue is said to invoke relaxation. It also goes well with the colors of Soul Flower’s yoga pants, capris, and skirts, so you can mix and match your yoga lounge wear. I know I have been!

Oh, I just adore this Aphrodite Abalone Ring and its old world feel! In fact, upon opening my little prized box I immediately imagined the ring having been worn by a Greek sea goddess. Now, many moons later it’s been washed to shore still possessing great mystical powers… for which I haven’t discovered yet. 🙂 hehe I love the ocean and travel there when possible, which isn’t often enough. Seeing this ring on the Soul-flower website reminded me of the many walks I’ve had along the beach. The wrap design of the pewter coils around my finger, representing waves as they fold into one another. They crash to the beach then recede to reveal the treasured shells underneath.
I don’t tend to wear much jewelry but, this ring is different! The creators, (although not sea goddesses), are a group of fair trade female artisans in rural Tecalpulco, Mexico. They, without a doubt have captured the tradition of fine Mexican jewelry beautifully in this piece, making it truly worthy of a great sea goddess. These empowered women make me feel a bit mystical and definitely inspired wearing their work! The fit is smooth and comfortable. I miss my Aphrodite abalone when it’s off, and realized quickly that the thick (somewhat heavy) appearance was quite deceiving because it hugs my finger and fits like a glove. I’d venture to say I might forget I’m wearing it if it weren’t for the fact this ring commands attention (with its striking physique) from everyone it meets!

I’d like to make a note that while 2 headbands knotted together in this way looks sweet, it does cause the headband(s) to fit more snugly against your head. Definitely tighter than one headband on its own. Be cautious and don’t squish your pretty little head! 🙂
