Sometimes wrapping gifts the old fashioned way can become a bit boring, and if you’re buying rolls and rolls of brand new wrapping paper, it isn’t exactly great for the environment, either. One quick fix is to grab old magazines, newspapers and all those gift bags you received last year. For our Holiday Lookbook, we mainly used recycled magazines and cut up paper bags, and it really added some festive color under the tree. It’s also a wonderful way to make your gifts feel more personal.
Outside of using recycled paper to wrap gifts, why not get creative and wrap a gift inside of a gift? It’s certainly an easy way to get your bud super excited (you know, that: WhoooooA!- I -want- the- outside -of- that- package- soooo- bad- what- could- possibly -be- IN -IT!?! kind of excited)!
A few simple ways to accomplish this over-the-top enthusiasm:
Use a belt instead of ribbon
Wrap the present in a scarf
Use a Grateful Dead Bandanna for smaller presents, we tied this one shut with hemp twine and added a Soul Flower button for an extra special touch.
Mudmee Tie-Dye Skirts work great for wrapping larger gifts, and the elastic band ends up looking like a funky ribbon on top. If you have a super huge present, try using a tapestry (who wouldn’t flip over a tapestry wrapped present?)
Soul Flower Coolies are just the right size for small jewelry boxes
Long socks, gloves, or arm warmers make for super cute bows.
